Jaishankar Says India Is Engaging Russia and Ukraine to Help End Conflict External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar said India remains in continuous contact with both Russia and Ukraine and is exploring ideas that could help reduce tensions and support an end to the conflict. Jaishankar made the remarks during a joint press briefing with Poland’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Radosław Sikorski in Warsaw. “We have been in continuous touch with the Ukrainian side, and also with the Russian side,” Jaishankar said. “We are trying to see if there are ideas and suggestions which can be developed in some way that would contribute to the mitigation, ideally a cessation, of the conflict.” He said India has held detailed discussions with both sides in recent days. Jaishankar recently visited Moscow and Kyiv, while Prime Minister Narendra Modi met Russian President Vladimir Putin in Bishkek earlier this week.

India-Poland Cooperation Jaishankar and Sikorski reviewed progress under the India-Poland Joint Action Plan for (2024–2028), which covers cooperation across several areas. The two ministers expressed confidence that the proposed India-European Union Free Trade Agreement would strengthen India-Poland economic and strategic ties. Jaishankar also met Polish President Karol Nawrocki. They discussed the growing India-Poland strategic partnership and exchanged views on the Russia-Ukraine war, developments in West Asia, the India-Middle East-Europe Economic Corridor (IMEC), and the G20 agenda. The External Affairs Minister also met members of the India-Poland Parliamentary Group, led by Polish parliamentarian Kinga Gajewska. They discussed ways to deepen contemporary India-Poland relations and exchanged views on recent regional and global developments. India has consistently called for dialogue and diplomacy to resolve the Russia-Ukraine conflict.
