Iran Fires Missiles at US Forces in Jordan After Fresh American Strikes Iran launched ballistic missiles targeting US military forces in Jordan on Wednesday, in retaliation for a fresh wave of American airstrikes on Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) facilities inside Iran. Jordanian officials said air-defence systems intercepted \(10\) incoming missiles, while three others landed in remote desert areas. Authorities did not immediately report casualties or major damage. The exchange marked the largest reported escalation between the United States and Iran since July, following nearly a month without major direct strikes. US Central Command said its latest operation targeted Iranian military sites, including missile launch positions, radar facilities and IRGC-linked infrastructure. It said the strikes responded to Iranian threats against commercial shipping in the Strait of Hormuz and recent attacks on US personnel. CENTCOM said it did not target civilians.

Iran Alleges Civilian Casualties Iranian state media reported that US strikes caused civilian casualties in several areas. Iran’s Red Crescent said debris from an American missile hit a house in the village of Kurstak, where a wedding ceremony was underway. Iranian officials said four people, including a child, were killed and dozens were injured. The Iranian Foreign Ministry described the alleged attack as a war crime. US officials have not confirmed the report. Two US officials quoted by Reuters said preliminary assessments showed no American casualties from Iran’s attack on the base in Jordan. Iran’s military warned that it would intensify strikes on US facilities if Washington continued attacks inside Iranian territory. State television broadcast a statement saying Iran’s armed forces were preparing “crushing and devastating blows”.

Tensions Across the Gulf Iran also claimed to have targeted US facilities in Bahrain, Kuwait and Iraq, though the claims could not be independently verified. Iranian officials alleged that the strikes caused casualties among US service personnel. The confrontation has renewed fears over oil exports and shipping through the Strait of Hormuz, a vital global energy route. Iran has repeatedly threatened to restrict shipping in the waterway amid its conflict with Washington. The US has accused Iran of targeting commercial tankers and disrupting maritime traffic. Washington has said it aims to restore safe navigation through the Strait of Hormuz and push Tehran towards a new agreement.

US Plans More Sanctions The escalation comes as the Trump administration reportedly prepares to impose additional economic sanctions on Iran in the coming days. Large protests were also reported in several Iranian cities, where demonstrators carried banners condemning US military action and Washington’s threats of further strikes. The conflict, which has continued for around six months, remains unpopular among many Americans, according to reports. US military officials have also reportedly warned the White House that stocks of some critical weapons are running low. Both sides have signalled that they can continue military operations, raising concerns that the conflict could widen further across the Gulf region.
