India Wins Gold and Two Silvers at Commonwealth Games 2026

India recorded its most successful day so far at the 2026 Commonwealth Games on Sunday, winning one gold and two silver medals to take its overall tally to four medals.
Olympic medalist Mirabai Chanu continued her dominance in weightlifting by winning her third consecutive Commonwealth Games gold medal. The 31-year-old set Commonwealth Games records in the snatch, clean and jerk, and total despite not eating or drinking for days to maintain her weight. She lifted 85kg in the snatch and 105kg in the clean and jerk.
Meanwhile, Rishikanta Singh and Raja Muthappan created history by winning silver medals in their respective weight categories, giving India a memorable day. The Manipuri lifter finished with a total of 264kg, while Raja secured silver with a total lift of 286kg, including 126kg in the snatch and 160kg in the clean and jerk.
With these results, India’s medal tally rose to four, including one gold, two silver, and one bronze. The country now stands eighth in the medal table, while Australia leads the standings.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi congratulated Mirabai Chanu for winning the gold medal.
