Aamir Khan Denies Rancho in 3 Idiots Was Inspired by Sonam Wangchuk
Aamir Khan denied that the character Rancho in the film 3 Idiots was inspired by Sonam Wangchuk.
Aamir Khan, the globally known superstar, said that the character of “Ranchoddas Chanchad”, or “Rancho”, in his 2009 film 3 Idiots was not inspired by Sonam Wangchuk, the Ladakh-based scientist, social reformer, and education reformer.
During a public event, a journalist asked Aamir Khan whether he had drawn inspiration for any of his characters from real people, including Sonam Wangchuk. The video quickly went viral after it appeared online, and news channels began covering it everywhere.
